  • According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse drug abuse costs the entire nation $11 billion in health care costs and $193 billion due to crime, under-performing workers and the aforementioned health care costs.

  • The New York Times reported only 10 percent of all addicted Americans get treatment.

  • A recent survey from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found that 23.5 million individuals 12 and older required rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse during 2009 alone. However, a fraction of the individuals, 11.2 % of the substance abusers were treated at a specialty treatment center.

  • Figures from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World found that 18 percent of all substance abuse treatment facility admissions is for opiate, specifically heroin abuse. 13.5 million individuals world-wide abuse opiates, including 9.2 million who abuse heroin. 2007 saw anywhere from 153,000 to 900,000 heroin abusers in the United States alone!

Florida’s State government recorded a two-year follow-up success rate of 68.2 percent and a survey of facilities found success rates as high as 70.4 percent.
